Community benefit service projects are a unique feature, providing Corps members the opportunity to directly contribute to the repair and development of their communities.

Corps members conduct needs assessments in their communities to help identify and approve community benefit service projects. A community advisory board comprised of elected officials faith-based and community leaders helps identify and approve community benefit service projects, and brings valuable social support to the Justice Corps.

To be eligible for approval, Projects must:

  • Fulfill unmet and valued community needs
  • Be visible
  • Be meaningful
  • Be achievable
  • Be environmentally sound and
  • Have a lasting impact
